Therapy With Red 510-629-1855

Welcome! I'm Red.

It's possible to be yourself and be loved, all at the same time. Together we can figure out how to get you there.

Whatever gets in the way - difficult relationships, life changes, trauma, or oppression - I help people learn to be on their own team.

Working with Red

I offer therapy for individual adults, adolescents, and for relationships (i.e. couples, roommates, business partners, polycules). Therapy is generally in a weekly 50-minute session. Some relationship partners choose 75-minute sessions.

Right now I have openings midday on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.

I'm happy to offer superbills for insurance reimbursement. I do not directly accept insurance at this time.

I do not have sliding scale spots open at this time, but they become available periodically. If you have concerns about the cost of therapy, let me know when you call; if we don’t find a solution that fits us both, I will be happy to support you in finding a lower-cost option.

  • Individual 50-minute session: $200

  • Relationship 50-minute session: $220

  • Relationship 75-minute session: $300

Who Works With Red?

The most important part of the client-therapist relationship is something intangible: it’s the fit.

How will you know if we could build a relationship of trust together? You can start by noticing how you feel looking at the website. Are you relaxed? Anxious? Excited, nauseous, or bored? This gut feeling, and meeting me in person, are your best tools.

Can I help you in particular? I've had success working with...

  • older teens

  • people who are queer, or possibly queer, or queer-adjacent, or just want to be able to critique sex and relationships

  • fat folks who want to befriend their bodies

  • neurodivergent people who believe - or want to believe - that their difference is not the problem

  • people who have struggled with eating

  • mixed-race people and relationships

  • people who are stuck in relationship patterns they don't want

  • activists

  • white people who want to be more resilient and competent in facing white supremacy

  • people with illnesses and disabilities

  • people who are exploring their gender (and people who are done exploring and want it to stop being a big deal that they're trans)

  • people on a spiritual journey

Who's Red?

For two years, I trained at the Women's Therapy Center, in relational, psychodynamic depth therapy. That means that I see therapy as a long-term process (although sometimes six weeks can be transformative too!), that I see all people as deeply embedded in relationships, and that our relationship - as therapist and client - is a place of change, struggle, and healing.

Before that, I studied Integral Counseling Psychology at CIIS. Integral counseling means that we attend to your spiritual well-being - that your spirit is as important as your body and your mind to the healing process.

I've been a student of vipassana meditation since 2007, and while I'm not a spiritual teacher, the insights and tools of Theravada Buddhism support our work together.

I'm also a student of movements - particularly around anti-racist feminism, fat liberation and disability justice - and strive to incorporate Sins Invalid's 10 Principles of Disability Justice in all of my work.
